Before I go any further I want to say that my feelings about the VMA's does not have anything to do with the performances. I think that they were good and the only thing that kept my interest during the show. Especially Janet Jackson's performance of 'Scream' that she did as a tribute to her late brother Micheal Jackson. I that that it was very touching and she did an awesome job. I also thought that the whole tribute section was great.
My problem lies with everything else that happened on the show, starting with Russell Brand hosting yet again and ending with all the drunk celebs that attended. First off I want to know what in the world made MTV executives decided to bring back Russell Brand as a host after he did such an awful job last time. The guy is completely disgusting and inappropriate, and it seems that none of that phased them.
The next offense was all the dumb and stupid celebrities in between. I will say that I do not in any way agree with what Kanye West did, but the guy has always been egotistical. He had no right to do what he did to Taylor Swift; and Beyonce was very gracious to rectify the situation. Another drunk celeb moment is when singer/host Lil Mama jumped on stage with Jay-Z and Alicia Keyes during their final performance. I have no idea what her purpose up there was and I think I never will.
After watching this and the BET Awards I have come to the conclusion that I should not be watching music award shows anymore. It's just not for me and I'm not impressed by there antics to get more ratings. From now on I'm going to save my brain cells.
