As many fans of Project Runway know, the show has moved over to Lifetime from their original home at Bravo. The change of channels comes after months of disputes between NBC Universal (which owns Bravo), the Weinstien Company, and Lifetime. The show will air on Lifetime for the next five years, Runway fans, and also develop a spin-off entitled Models of the Runway.
With the change in channels also comes a change of scenery for the show; which is reported to move from the fashion district of New York City to Los Angeles. Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Micheal Kors, and Nina Garcia are all staying with the series that airs this summer on Thursday, August 20th.
Even though Bravo has lost one of its most popular shows, which is still listed underneath its show section, they have come up with a way to regain its niche. Airing Thursday May 7, Bravo will premiere its new show The Fashion Show starring designer Isaac Mizrahi and singer/actor Kelly Rowland.
In this new series "fifteen designers will compete to sale their designs in the retail market and win a $125,000 prize" according The Fashion Show website at bravotv.com. Is it just me or does that seem like that is sort of familiar? In the new series the designers will face two challenges- one entitled after the magazine Harper Bazaar. After all the eliminations, America will be given the chance to decide who will when the competition and win the grand prize.
While Bravo pubs their new show, since it starts Thursday, Lifetime is gearing up with their ads for Project Runway. Who will win the battle for views and ratings? Only time will tell, but in the words of Heidi Klum "One day you're in, the next day you're out."
