Farwell Angel

After her long time battle with cancer, actress Farrah Fawcett lost her fight yesterday. Fawcett passed away yesterday morning at the age of 62 in St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica . By her side was her longtime man Ryan O'Neal and Alana Stewart.

Before she her big break in Aaron Spelling's show, Fawcett was doing appearances on I Dream of Jeannie , the Six Million Dollar Man, and many more. Fawcett's well known role was when she played Jill Munroe on the television classic Charlie's Angels. Even though she only played the role for one season, she became an icon during the 1970's. Fawcett's best well-known picture was when she posed in a red bathing suite for a poster, the poster sales ranged from 5 million to 12 million copies.

After leaving Charlie's Angel's, Fawcett starred in a series of Broadway plays. Her role in the off-Broadway play Extremities earned her the role in the movie and a Golden Globe nomination. Also her role in The Burning Bed earned her a nomination for an Emmy. Aside from her acting roles, Fawcett also posed for Playboy Magazine in 1995 which was the best selling issue for that decade. Despite her career, Fawcett was also popular for her feathered hairstyle which she made trendy during the 1970s.

Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in October of 2006. In 2007 she was declared cancer free, however, several months later the cancer came back. She then started to document her battle with cancer in a video documentary. The videos showed Fawcett as she traveled to receive treatment and her thoughts about her cancer.

"I am resolutely strong, and I am determined to bite the bullet and fight the fight," said Fawcett in 2006.

Fawcett's cancer continued to get worse, especially in April when she was in and out of the hospital. Her cancer spread further throughout her body and into her lungs. Fawcett's documentary became a two hour special on NBC, which aired in May.

In a recent interview with 20/20 O'Neal told Barbara Walters that he recently proposed to Fawcett, and she said yes. The couple had been together since 1982 and have a son together. Their son, Redmond O'Neal was born in 1985.

Deepest sympathy to Farrah Fawcett's family in their time of grief. Good-bye Angel, you are now in a better place.
