No More Gosselin

After all the post that I have done about the Gosselin family I think that it's time to end it. As I have said before I am a big fan of TLC's Jon and Kate Plus 8, I instantly fell in love with the show after one episode. However, after all the media coverage of now the over-exposed family and Monday's season premiere I am officially boycotting the show.

I understand that's it's human nature to want to know every aspect of celebrities lives, but is it really worth all the trouble? We have seen what the desire to know more about celebrities has done, remember Princess Diana. Now the same need to know everything about a people has turned on this family and split them apart.

The premiere for the new season of Jon and Kate Plus 8 brought in 9.8 million viewers, and regrettably I was one of them. The season opener featured as I wrote in a previous post the sextuplets 5th birthday along with interviews from Jon and Kate about their recent media coverage. Both Gosselin parents appeared in separate interviews during the show, with the exception of when they were asked about their future. Throughout the hour long special it was apparent that the couple is having problems; especially when their child Alexis asked Jon to come home during her birthday party.

One thing that I noticed about the children's party was that their close family and friend that appeared with the family regularly were not there. Beth Carson, a friend that they met when the sextuplets were born, was M.I.A. during the party. She has appeared in many of the families episodes along with her family who plays and takes care of the kids.

Also missing from the party was Kate's brother Kevin Kreider and his wife Jodie. They have also appeared on the show several times along with their children, and where M.I.A. in the opener. They appeared on CBS The Early Show today to speak out about how their nieces and nephews are being "exploited." In the interview they stated that they now have an estranged relationship with the Gosselin family and haven't seen their nieces and nephews in a long time. They also said that the children don't like having the camera around all the time.

"They don't want the cameras around. They have told me personally. ... We watched them quite a bit about a year ago and further back. They would say, 'Aunt Jodi, I don't like the cameras on every vacation with us. I don't like them --" said Jodi Kreider.

Her husband followed with saying, "We're speaking out now because we want to be the voice of our nieces and nephews. We're seeing it turn-tide, that they're being viewed as a commodity."

As millions of views continue to watch the show, I am throwing in the flag. I will not be a part of the destruction of this family. I'm quitting Jon and Kate Plus 8 cold turkey. So this is my final blog on the Gosselin family, I wish them the best and I hope that the media and their fans don't tear their family apart.

Tori & Dean: Back Again

Back in our lives again is another season of Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood starring non-other than Tori Spelling, husband Dean McDermont, their two kids, and the dogs. Their show airs on Oxygen and this season is suppose to full of work for the couple. Aside from all the things that the couple has to handle, it seems that their purpose is to find a way to balance their lives.

The thing that has attracted me to their show is their adorable children. Liam, the couple's first child together, is the quietest baby I've ever seen and he always seem happy. I guess that amazes me only because I have been around babies that are temperamental. This season also has their new baby, Stella, who seems to be the complete opposite of her brother. So baby Stella is definitely going to be the one in charge around the McDermont house.

Unlike past seasons, this one is going to be very different, and it not just because Tori isn't pregnant this season. The couple is going to be busy this season as they both pursue their careers in Hollywood. Tori Spelling is in the middle of writing her second book, promoting her jewelry line, and talking to producers about reprising her role as Donna on the new 90210. According to past reports it took a lot of negotiating to get Spelling on to the show, hopefully this season will give incite into why that was an issue.

Aside from their busy careers, the couple has moved into another house this season. In the season opener the family moved from the house that they renovated last season into what appears to be something more private. Their new house has more rooms in it which will be occupied by the family and Dean McDermott's oldest son that is moving in with them.

As they work to find a balance for what is going on in their lives, Spelling is worried about becoming her mother, Candy Spelling. She mentioned last night that she didn't want to become the parent that her mother was, and expressed that she wanted to have a strong relationship with her children. Spelling and her mother have been estranged for years now, this has been going on before the death of her father Aaron Spelling.

As this season goes on, hopefully they will find a way to balance work and family. Unfortunately for them it's all in a days work of being a celeb family in Hollywood.

First Lady Fashion

Is first lady Michelle Obama the hope that the fashion industry is looking for? As the United States continues to work through its current economic crisis, people are spending less on fashion in order to save money. However, the first lady is fashion industry gold because whatever she wears turns into a trend and sells. The first lady is now being called the 'one-woman stimulus plan for the fashion industry.'

Mrs. Obama has been a part of fashion even before she moved into the White House back in January. Prior to becoming the first lady, Mrs. Obama was raising eyebrows with her sleeveless dresses. Since it was uncommon for a potential first lady to wear dresses without sleeves she was a story that was constantly in the news. However, talks of her wardrobe being inappropriate turned to talks of her toned arms as people started to accept Mrs. Obama's style.

Since her husband's inauguration, the first lady has helped many businesses and designers come to the forefront. Retailers such as J. Crew have seen sales rise because of Mrs. Obama and the Obama girls wearing their merchandise. According to Women's Wear Daily, Mrs. Obama wore a beaded cardigan sweater from J. Crew which became popular overnight after photos of her appeared.

Not just retailers but also designers have gained from the Obama touch. At the Inaugural Ball for her husband the first lady wore a dress by an up and coming 27-year-old designer Jason Wu. She recently wore a dress by Project Runway judge and designer Micheal Kors. She wore the black shift dress in a photo shoot that she did in the Blue room of the White House from Kors' 2009 Spring Collection. On May 19th she wore a purple silk dress and jacket by The Fashion Show's host Isaac Mizrahi.

Mrs. Obama is the woman of fashion and definitely affects what is being purchased among women. If her fashion chooses will affect the retail market enough to make a huge difference has yet to be seen. What can be said is that Mrs. Obama and fashion go hand and will continue to get better with time.

Just Kendra

As Kendra Wilkinson's wedding day approaches, she has many things to do on her agenda. To those that are unfamiliar with Wilkinson she is the ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner and use to be a co-star of E!'s The Girls Next Door. She is currently promoting her new show that will be airing on E! entitled after herself that premieres June 7th.

I've seen the previews of Wilkinson's new show and I have to admit that I'm still on the fence about watching it. Even though I would occasionally watched The Girls Next Door, the dynamics of the three women together is what made the show interesting. They are all different in their own way, whereas Wilkinson was portrayed to be somewhat dull minded. As the youngest of Hugh Hefner's girlfriends at the time, she appeared to be dependent on the mansion's wait staff and other help. Even in the previews for her show, Wilkinson comes off as not being self sufficient. Although she has a great personality since she is very lively, other factors about her make me wonder if the show is worth watching.

Aside from her show, Wilkinson and fiance Hank Baskett are busy disregarding rumors of there being any big bachelor or bachelorette parties before their June 27th nuptials. Wilkinson stated that they would rather have a tame joint party together, because they would otherwise text each other being their parties. Aww.

While getting ready for her show's premiere and her wedding, Wilkinson is also talking about future plans with her husband-to-be. In an interview with Marc Malkin from eonline, she stated that she wants to have babies soon. Wilkinson said, "We want to be young parents and be able to chase around our kids and run and coach our kids."

Maybe we will be seeing little Wilkinson-Basketts walking around sooner than we think. Until then fans will have to make due with watching Kendra and hope that the ex Girl Next Door can make it out in the real world on her own.

What About One Tree Hill?

Last night the CW aired the last One Tree Hill episode with stars Chad Micheal Murray and Hilarie Burton playing Lucas Scott and Peyton Sawyer-Scott. As fans of the show know, the pair recently became married on the show and in the last episode had a baby girl. In the last scene, characters Lucas, Peyton, and their baby are in the car and drive off. With this I have to ask, what is going to happen to the show now?

For those that don't watch the show, One Tree Hill centers around the lives of brothers Nathan and Lucas Scott along with their friends and family in the fictional city of Tree Hill. Lucas and Peyton have had an on and off relationship throughout the shows history, and are in a way the top couple on the show aside from Nathan and his wife Haley.

I've watched the show for a while, and I have to say that last night's episode was a little disappointing. Even though everyone's story lines ended on a happy note, I wanted Lucas and Peyton's exit to be different compared to what happened. Having them just drive away without any reasoning seemed like a bad way to end their storyline.

I'm curious to see how they are going to survive without these characters; most shows don't survive after characters leave. Some reports say that the show is going to bring on new characters to join the cast; one being Austin Nichols as Julian who has had a recurring role this season. Two other characters that are said to be added is a model for Brooke Davis' clothing line and Haley's older sister who manages Nathan's basketball career.

According to a newspaper out of Wilmington, the show will start taping again June 17th for the new season. Until then fan will have to live with Peyton's motto, "People always leave."

Sextuplet's Turn 5

Again the Gosselin's are in the news, but this time its to celebrate. Last week the family celebrated the fifth birthday of their sextuplets. The entire family along with friends and other family met a a local park to celebrate with cake, streamers, and pinatas.

As I wrote about before the Gosselin family has been under scrutiny due to allegations that both Jon and Kate have been having extramarital affairs. A couple of weeks ago tabloids reported that Jon was having an affair with 23-years-old school teacher Deanna Hummel.

This was continued with Hummel's brother stating that they were together. Hummel herself commented that she was never in a relationship with the father of eight. She stated that she and Jon Gosselin are just friends and that her brother said what he did to get exposure.

While still dealing with the blows of the alleged affair, tabloids started reporting recently that Kate Gosselin was having an affair. The reports stated that she was cheating on her husband with body guard Steve Neild. After the reports started to circle around Kate Gosselin, she confronted stating that they where lies.

TLC has not issued any comments about these accusations that have been going with their show.

Even though these allegations have been circling around for a while, the family continues to move forward. Aside from the birthday parties, the family also has their summer season premier coming up next week on TLC. Kate Gosselin stated before that in this coming season their will not be any discussion on the show about the what has been going on in the media. However, their promotions for the new season appear as though these issues will be addressed.

Hopefully the problems of the Gosselin family will all be resolved. Until then those that still watch Jon & Kate Plus 8 can tune in next Monday for new episodes.

Beyonce's Two Year Break

Life for the singer/actress Beyonce Knowles is busier than you may think. Currently she is touring in Denmark and moving Sweden on her I AM... Tour, which will come to an end in August. The starlet also has her new suspense thriller Obsessed in movie theaters, which has gross over $46 million since it was released in late April. Beyonce has also recently came out with a new advertising campaign with her mother Tina Knowles for their sprin line for House of Dereon.

This woman is on the move, but according to a recent article out of New Zealand she may be clearing her schedule pretty soon. The article states that Beyonce is looking at taking a two year break from her hetic schedule to focus on her personal life. Even though there are no specifics on what personal life pertains to, but I'm going to bet it has to deal with spending time with husband and rapper Sean 'Jay-Z' Carter.

She said in regards to the subject, "My priorities are slowly changing. So after this tour I might be tired and want to take two years off. I've worked hard enough to be able to do that. I'm in a very good place."

Beyonce who married hip hop mogal Jay-Z back in April of 2008 told Marie Claire magazine that she and her husband find a way to balance their schedules. She says that they sync their schedules in order to spend time together.

She said, "
I started working on my tour a year ago just to make sure that I had time at home."

What will happen to the 27 year old diva in two years? Only time will tell...

The Fashion Crusades

I have to ask, is Bravo so despite to replace the moved on Project Runway that they are going to make an almost duplicate copy of the show called The Fashion Show?

As many fans of Project Runway know, the show has moved over to Lifetime from their original home at Bravo. The change of channels comes after months of disputes between NBC Universal (which owns Bravo), the Weinstien Company, and Lifetime. The show will air on Lifetime for the next five years, Runway fans, and also develop a spin-off entitled Models of the Runway.

With the change in channels also comes a change of scenery for the show; which is reported to move from the fashion district of New York City to Los Angeles. Heidi Klum, Tim Gunn, Micheal Kors, and Nina Garcia are all staying with the series that airs this summer on Thursday, August 20th.

Even though Bravo has lost one of its most popular shows, which is still listed underneath its show section, they have come up with a way to regain its niche. Airing Thursday May 7, Bravo will premiere its new show The Fashion Show starring designer Isaac Mizrahi and singer/actor Kelly Rowland.

In this new series "fifteen designers will compete to sale their designs in the retail market and win a $125,000 prize" according The Fashion Show website at bravotv.com. Is it just me or does that seem like that is sort of familiar? In the new series the designers will face two challenges- one entitled after the magazine Harper Bazaar. After all the eliminations, America will be given the chance to decide who will when the competition and win the grand prize.

While Bravo pubs their new show, since it starts Thursday, Lifetime is gearing up with their ads for Project Runway. Who will win the battle for views and ratings? Only time will tell, but in the words of Heidi Klum "One day you're in, the next day you're out."

Baby Mamas

Is it just me or has Mother's Day is coming early this year to Hollywood moms? Almost every day someone is announcing that they are having a baby; it is truly glamorous to be a mom. Being a celebrity mom as become such a big deal that the paparazzi gather to get pictures of moms and their kids (ex. Halle Berry and daughter Nahla leaving a restaurant in LA). People Magazine has even added a section in their "100 Most Beautiful People" issue to include celebrity moms and their kids.

So to get everything straight on who's doing what, here's the celebs that have a bun in the oven. Heidi Klum, host Project Runway, Victoria's Secret model, and entrepreneur, announced that she will be having her fourth child with husband Seal. The couple has two children together and Klum as one child from a previous relationship.

Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick are expecting twin girls through a surrogate, which is due late summer. The couple already has one child together; they have turned to a surrogate after reportedly having complications on their own.

Ex Buffy star Sarah Michelle Geller and husband, actor, Freddie Prinze Jr. are pregnant. The couple has been married for six year. This will be their first child together.

Already pregnant fashion and entertainment mogul of Baby Phat, Kimora Lee Simmons, is expecting her first child with actor Djimon Hounsou. Simmons already has two daughters with ex husband Russell Simmons.

While some famous women are pregnant, other celebs are looking at becoming moms-to-be, such as Eva Longoria Parker. In a interview she spoke about wanting to start a family with husband and Tony Parker. She stated that they might look into adopting someday. Hopefully, she will not have the problems that Madonna is having.

While Hollywood celebrates Mother's Day early, the rest of us will be celebrating the love for our moms on May 10. Happy early Mother's Day to all the moms out there from Sunset Hills.

Get Well Jennifer

Sad news for Jennifer Hudson fans, she is sick with a throat illness and has had to cancel some of her shows. Last night Hudson was scheduled to perform in Oakland, California, but had to postpone her show till mid May. She has also done the same for her shows in Texas, Arizona, and Mississippi which will also be rescheduled for later dates.

Jennifer Hudson is currently on tour with singer Robin Thicke. The singer performed on Saturday and showed no signs of being ill according E! Online. Hudson performed her hit songs "You Pulled Me Through," "If This Isn't Love," and from motion picture Dreamgirls "And I Am Telling You (I'm Not Going)" without any problems.

Aside from Hudson's current illness, there are rumors about the singer/actress might be pregnant. She is currently engaged to David Otunga; the date of the wedding has not been announced. When asked about the supposed pregnancy by a reporter in London Hudson laughed it off.

I don't understand why people are so anxious to make someone pregnant. Just because they have a bump doesn't mean they are pregnant people, so lets chill out. Seriously, how long have people been trying to tag Jennifer Aniston with a baby?

As a Jennifer Hudson fan since she first appeared on American Idol, I hope Jennifer gets well soon. It would not be the same with her powerful singing voice.

The Hills- No Thanks

Since I'm on my reality tv soap box this week, I thought to myself why not go ahead an talk about the reality show that bothers me most, The Hills. I really don't see a point in a show about two women that can't get along and are making their friends choose side, while you watch their lives in LA. Plus if people know that parts of the show are scripted, then why do they keep watching it? This is just as bad as watching WWE.

My ex roommate watched the show religiously, and in an effort to get to know each other better we watched The Hills together. Watching the show was, I will admit, interesting at first only because I had no idea what was going on and why Lauren and Heidi did not like each other. Then half way through the season, I felt myself dreading Monday nights and when my roommate would text me about it being on.

Out of all the cast on the show I would have to say that Lauren, Brody, and Lo are the closest ones to being sane. Even though Brody went off and did that Bro-mace show, he seems to be someone that just lives life. I don't blame Lauren Conrad for wanting to leave the show, the constant drama and stupidity that makes up the series would annoy me too if I had to live it.

My problem is this, if Heidi knows that Spencer is shady and people are continuously telling her that he is a bad guy then why does she keep going back? If someone knows the answer to this please comment back and inform me, cause to me she seems desperate. Then a couple of weeks ago she married the guy, which made me almost want to vomit. What kind of world do we live in where people marry someone that no one likes?

And another thing is why if Lauren, who the show is centered around, is leaving would MTV continue it? As someone that has watched many sitcoms come and go, after the main character leaves- the show fails. I don't think that Heidi, Spencer, and Audrina can carry it on their own. So they might as well trash the whole thing or make a new series if they want to continue this maddest.

It all comes down to this, I don't understand how people can watch The Hills. It all seems like a brain melting half-hour to me, but that's just my opinion. The idea of writing this article came to me when watching tv today and they asked which couple people are tired of hearing about. I obviously thought of Heidi and Spencer, but I want to know what you think. Vote on my poll and post your comments.

Choosing Houswives

For some odd reason I like to watch Bravo's Real Housewives series. This dirty pleasure of mine started with the Orange County Housewives and a love for controlling Vicki Gunvalson and Lauri Peterson's beautiful wedding to George. Then it kept growing; after that I was watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta and came to enjoy the antics of NeNe Leakes. Now I can't help myself and I'm watching The Real Housewives of New York City (But it will probably stop there because New Jersey seems to have too much drama. Did you see the preview?)

Since the New York City season has been airing lately I have started watching to fill the void for the Orange County season ending. I have come to appreciate these classy ladies every Tuesday night as I watch them live there fabulous New York lifestyles. However, it has been so hard for me to find someone that I seriously like most.

It was easy to choose my favorites from Orange County, but with New York City I just don't know. Since this is my first time watching these women, I've been having a hard time find one to choose. It's like they are purposely trying to confuse me with these ladies.

At first I liked Ramona Singer because she seemed like one of those woman that was real and straight to the point. She was nice, but not someone that you would want to cross. So when she would talk about housewife Alex McCord and her husband Simon, I thought that something must be wrong with them. My opinion changed after closely watching them in several episodes, then I started to like Alex McCord. She was just that working mom with two young kids, a husband with a good fashion sense, and was in the middle of get her house renovated. I thought this woman knows how to multitask like no other.

So I thought that my housewife favorite was picked and ready to go. Then it happened, Bethenny Frankel showed up and changed it again. After the episodes with Bethenny Frankel and Kelly Bensimon getting into several arguments I had to join Team Bethenny. I'm sorry for all you Kelly Bensimon fans, but she was wrong to treat not just Bethenny Frankel anyone like that. You don't treat people like they are beneath you and you are too good to talk to them.

So I have chosen a side in this Frankel vs Kelly feud. For those of you that also watch The Real Housewives of New York City the reunion special is going to be two-hours because of all the drama that was filmed (usually it's just an hour long). This reunion is going to get heated between Singer, Bensimon, Frankel, McCord, Jill Zarin, and LuAnn de Lesseps. So watch May 12 for the special; and Bravo- keep coming with the drama cause I can't get enough.

Dad Just Wants to Have Fun

In the middle of another one of my busy days I logged on to check my email and there it was in the the middle of the website, a picture of Jon and Kate Gosselin with a title about the Jon's night out. I have to ask with everything going on in the world is Jon Gosselin going out front page news?

I read the article and I know what the story is about. Jon Gosselin went to a bar and left with an unidentified woman while his wife was promoting her book. Call me bias, but I like the Gosselins. Their show is real, it's doesn't have that Leave it to Beaver feel but you can tell that at the end of the day that they love each other. As an avid watcher of the show, it's evident that they have their good times and bad. Jon and Kate have argued in front of their children, but who's parents don't? I want to meet someone that had parents that never had problems.

The thing that really made me mad about this story was that they are just a family on a reality show. Even though they are one of the most popular reality shows out there, they have young children and the media needs to respect that. Jon is allowed to have a night out with friends, just because he's a dad of 8 doesn't mean that his life comes to a halt. And if he goes out and leaves with a woman that doesn't mean that he was cheating on his wife.

It's like the voice mail that Alex Baldwin left his daughter, should he have talked to his daughter like that- no. But that's family business and who are we to be involved with every detail of these people's lives. I truly believe that they deserve privacy too.

So to sum things up, cause I could go on about this all day, let's let them be. It made me mad that US Weekly published this story and that it has gone as far as it has. I don't even trust US Weekly as a valid news source personally and would rather go to E! Online to find out entertainment information. And for those of you that wondered, I did check their site about this story and they didn't write about it at all. So Gosselin's- live it up, go green, and be merry. Because at the end of the day, you are just a reality show, and it's your business.
