Death of a King

I'm sad to write that Michael Jackson has passed away. I'm still in shock that he is gone, and it's hard for me to write this story right now. I grew up with real music playing in my house, songs by the greats like Earth, Wind, and Fire, Chaka Khan, and the infamous Michael Jackson. He and his song have changed us all, the music industry, and the world.

Michael Jackson died at the age of 50 at UCLA Medical Center. He was pronounced dead at 2:26 pm, this is two hours after the 911 call was made. The cause of his death was due to a massive heart attack that he suffered in his Holmby Hills home. His personal physician, who was in his home, tried to resuscitate him but was unsuccessful. Jackson's body is currently going through an autopsy; the results are suppose to come out later today.

As coroners work to find out what caused the death of Jackson, there are speculations that it could have been caused by the pain killers he was taking. Jackson was taking the pain killers due to a leg and vertebrae injury in his back that he suffered when he fell off a stage during a performance. The former attorney and a close family friend of Jackson, Brian Oxman, said yesterday that he was concerned of the artist use of the medication.

Oxman today NBC's Today Show, "I said one day, we're going to have this experience. And when Anna Nicole Smith passed away, I said we cannot have this kind of thing with Michael Jackson. The result was, I warned everyone, and lo and behold, here we are. I don't know what caused his death. But I feared this day, and here we are."

Michael Jackson's life story is something that is familiar to fans all over the world. He grew up in Gary, Indiana as the seventh of nine children of Joseph and Katherine Jackson. He along with his older brothers' former the musical group known as the Jackson 5. When Jackson was 10 the group, Jackson 5, was signed to Motown Records. The group's hit songs consist of "ABC", "I'll Be There", and "I Want You Back."

Jackson had released four albums during his childhood and adolescent years. He released his fifth album Off the Wall in 1979, which featured the song "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough." This was followed by Jackson's album Thriller, which sold over 50 million copies worldwide and is the best-selling album in history. The album included hits like the critically acclaimed "Thriller", "Billy Jean", and "Beat It." In 1987 Jackson released the album Bad which included hit songs "Bad," "Man in the Mirror," "Dirty Diana," and "Smooth Criminal." Jackson's discography also includes albums Dangerous in 1991, HIStory in 1995, and his last album Invisible in 2001.

Jackson was induced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, the first time in 1997 and second time in 2001. During his lifetime he won 56 Recording Industry Association of America Awards, 40 Billboard Awards, 22 American Music Awards, 19 Grammy Awards, and 13 Guinness Book of World Records along with many other awards. He also won an African Ambassador's Spouses Association Award in 2004. Aside from his music history Jackson leaves behind three child, two sons and a daughter which range in ages 14 to 7.

The family of Jackson is currently in Encino, California at the mansion that is said to be owned by Jermaine Jackson and Katherine Jackson. It is unknown if Jackson's older sister La Toya is at the house, and his younger sister Janet Jackson is in route to the mansion. According to E! Rev. Jesse Jackson, who is a long family friend of the Jackson's, has been with the family during this time. He addressed the media today to speak on behalf of the family.

"Michael deserves his rest and has earned his rest" said Rev. Jesse Jackson. He continued by saying, "For those who have criticized Michael, we say beat it."

Rev. Jesse Jackson also said that Michael was in good physical and mental shape and was excited about his 50 show tour coming up in London. He also noted that this was a shock to everyone. Rev. Jackson also spoke about being with the family and stated that they were playing Jackson's songs in the household.

Many celebrities around the world are morning the death of Jackson. Throughout the day yesterday and today people have been releasing statements about his death and sending condolences to the Jackson family.

"My heart…my mind…are broken," said Jackson's long-time friend Elizabeth Taylor, I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. It can't be so. He will live in my heart forever but it's not enough. My life feels so empty."

"I feel privileged to have hung out and worked with Michael," wrote Paul McCartney on his website, "He was a massively talented boy man with a gentle soul. His music will be remembered forever and my memories of our time together will be happy ones."

More details will be released throughout the day and in coming days about the death of Michael Jackson. I am truly saddened by the news of his death. Michael Jackson, despite the tribulations of his life, made a great impact on the world through his music and humanitarianism. His life and work has touched us all in one way or another, and we have reaped the benefits from it. Without his contribution we would not have the dance moves, trends, music, music videos, or MTV.

My condolences go out to the Jackson family. We will never forget the contributions that were made by THE KING OF POP.

Farwell Angel

After her long time battle with cancer, actress Farrah Fawcett lost her fight yesterday. Fawcett passed away yesterday morning at the age of 62 in St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica . By her side was her longtime man Ryan O'Neal and Alana Stewart.

Before she her big break in Aaron Spelling's show, Fawcett was doing appearances on I Dream of Jeannie , the Six Million Dollar Man, and many more. Fawcett's well known role was when she played Jill Munroe on the television classic Charlie's Angels. Even though she only played the role for one season, she became an icon during the 1970's. Fawcett's best well-known picture was when she posed in a red bathing suite for a poster, the poster sales ranged from 5 million to 12 million copies.

After leaving Charlie's Angel's, Fawcett starred in a series of Broadway plays. Her role in the off-Broadway play Extremities earned her the role in the movie and a Golden Globe nomination. Despite her career, Fawcett was also popular for her feathered hairstyle which she made trendy during the 1970s.

Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in October of 2006. In 2007 she was declared cancer free, however, several months later the cancer came back. She then started to document her battle with cancer in a video documentary. The videos showed Fawcett as she traveled to receive treatment and her thoughts about her cancer.

Parker, Twins, and SATC

Welcome to the world Broderick babies. Early Monday morning Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, and son James welcomed their beautiful twin daughters. Their twins were born by a surrogate in a hospital at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry Ohio.

The twins were born around three o'clock in the morning on Monday. The proud parents named their girls Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick, who weighed 5 lbs 11 ounces, and Tabitha Hodge Broderick, who weighed 6lbs. The girl's are named after family members on Parker's side of the family.

It was reported early this year that Parker and Broderick were expecting twins through a surrogate. As I wrote about before, the couple wanted to extend their family but they were unable to do it on their own. The couple turned to a surrogate and reported that they were expecting last April. The twin girls came into the world healthy and as a true delight to the family was the statement their rep gave reporters.

Even though they just had their twins, the couple's work and careers still go on. Right after the birth of the twins Broderick returned to NYC to perform in the Broadway play The Philanthropist. After the play he met with People Magazine to speak about his daughters.

"I'm very happy. I don't know what else to say," said Broderick, "I've seen them already. I just got back."

Even though the girls arrived early, the couple has been prepared for their arrival. The due date for the twins was suppose to be late summer, leaning more towards August. Although they arrived early, friends of the family told People Magazine that the couple has been preparing the nursery for a while and purchasing items.

While the new mom's personal life is growing and flourishing, so is her career. Parker and her follow companions are back for another Sex and the City movie. Even though she has three kids to care for, this working mom is going to balancing both acts.

The highly anticipated Sex and the City sequel is in the production stages now. The women are all on board for the second movie along with their men, and they are of course filming in the big NYC. To prevent leaks about the movie, the Sex and the City team is keeping any and all information about it on lock. There is said to be five scripts written for the movie in order to prevent anyone from knowing what the sequel is about. Spoiler alert for SATC fans: In one of these scripts Big and Carrie have a baby.

Despite their busy lives, at the end of the day Parker and Broderick are all about the family. Their friends told People Magazine that the couple are great parents and about the girls are fortunate to have them as parents.

"They absolutely adore their son [James, 6] so the two kids who came into the world are going to be very happy," said family friend Gary Beach.

A Little Carey?

'Baby' seem to be a common word around Hollywood this year as yet another couple plans for the future. The new host of America's Got Talent, Nick Cannon, talked about what the future holds for him and his wife singer Mariah Carey. So does that mean there will be some little Carey's on the way?

According to Cannon, who recently did an interview with MTV News, having kids is in the plans for the young couple. However, they are not going to be having them anytime soon. Due to both of their schedules, they have decided to wait on family plans.

"We're getting things together. So as soon as our schedules calm down, that's where our focus will go," Cannon said in the interview.

Cannon and Carey recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary in Las Vegas. Now the couple is busy working on their own careers. NBC's show America's Got Talent has already started their new season which is taking up Cannon's time. While Carey recently released her single "Obsessed" which was written and produced by The Dream, Tricky Stewart, and Carey. Her new album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angels will be released on August 25th.

Even though they will not be having kids right now, Cannon already has goals set for the kind of father he wants to be. In an interview that he did with People Magazine yesterday Cannon spoke about the ideas on fatherhood.

"I want to be a father that's all about love," said Cannon. He continued with saying, "I will probably be the fun dad because I'm silly, I'm always trying to have a good time and always doing funny and stupid stuff."

When asked if he would like for his future kids to be in the music or acting business, Cannon said that he would support his children in whatever they do. For him as a father, he wants his children to be happy.

"I would love it, but I'm not going to be one of those stage daddies where its like, 'Get out there and sing!'" he said. "I won't be that kind of dad. I want them to do whatever they love and if they love, that will definitely, make me happy."

With the baby plans on hold for now, those that are wondering when we will hear little patters of feet don't need not to worry. Cannon told People Magazine that he and his wife have plan set for when they will be starting a family.

"We had our first year and enjoyed it. This year for us is about establishing everything and creating a household," he says. "So when we do welcome a child, it will be in a very comfortable established home. So we are working on that and once this year calms down, then we'll probably start taking about it more seriously. That's a priority, and it's not just a quick decision."

The Claws are Out

Tomorrow on Bravo will be the reunion of all reunions in the channels history. With the Real Housewives of New Jersey wraps up its first season, the women will come face to face to discuss what took place. Moderator of all Bravo's reunions, Andy Cohen, will have a front seat to what appears to be an interesting two part episode.

In their first season, the New Jersey Housewives have gained a strong following in the 18-49 age range. They are currently the highest ranging of the Housewives franchise, so that means we will be seeing more of these ladies next year. The finale of the show which so graciously featured housewife Teresa Giudice flipping a table was viewed by more than 4.6 million people.

I know that when I originally wrote about the show, I was not really interested in watching these ladies. After I saw all the cat fights and drama this show had, I was drawn to watch it. For those of you who haven't seen it, I would recommend it if not to just watch the drama of the season finale.

The show follows the lives of five affluent women and their families in New Jersey. The difference between the other franchise shows and New Jersey is that some of these women are also family. The shows features sisters Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo, who's husbands are brothers. Also their brother's wife, their sister-in-law Jacqueline Laurita is on the show. The cast also features Teresa Giudice and Danielle Staub.

Together these women balance everyday life and the day to day drama of dealing with one another. Staub's life was under the microscope this season as the women discovered that she has a secret past. The information on her life cause a rift between the women as many of them started to distance themselves from her. This then cause Staub's to blame Dina Manzo for bringing the book into the public, which later caused Giudice to flip the table.

The two part reunion special will be airing this Tuesday and Thursday. As the women meet to discuss the season, the previews show that this reunion will have a lot of yelling and tears in store. Cohen will have his work cut out for him as he talks to them about the rivalry between Manzo and Staub, Staub's interesting past, and that happened in between.

Sine this will be the Real Housewives franchise is taking a break, Bravo will be airing it's new series NYC Prep, which I wrote about in a previous post. After the hiatus viewers can enjoy going back to Atlanta for the second season of Real Housewives of Atlanta. Right now the Real Housewives of Orange County are filming their new season, which most likely will air next year.

Bravo is also working on developing the Real Housewives of Washington D.C., which they sent out a casting call for and is still in the works. However, I think if they did a Real Housewives of Houston or Miami it would be more interesting.

Either way watch the Real Housewives of New Jersey reunion, if only to watch the table flipping over and over again.

The Coming of Drake

If you haven't heard of this Canadian rapper, you will soon because he is making big moves in the rap industry. Aubrey Drake Graham, who goes by his middle name alone, has made a name for himself in the music industry and has not even released an album yet. Yet he is known to many fans all across the country and rolls with some of rap and hip hops most notable personalities such as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Dr. Dre.

Many people may recognize Graham from the work that he did when he appeared on the teen show Degrassi: The Next Generation. He played Jimmy Brooks, who was a rich and athletic basketball player. Since the show Graham as been working on building his music career. In 2006 he released his first mixtape Room for Improvement. Then is 2007 he dropped his sophomore mixtape entitled Comeback Season and in 2008 Heartbreak Drake. This year he released his latest mixtape So Far Gone.

Even though the up and coming rapper is not signed to a record label, he is scheduled to release his first album sometime this year. The album entitled Thank Me Later is said to be a different sound for Graham compared to his mixtapes. Even though there is little information known about the album Graham has expressed that he would like for rappers Kayne West, Jay-Z, and Lil Wayne to be on the album.

"Everybody is looking for this one joint with me and Jay, so that needs to happen. My goal at this point is to keep making that organic music," Graham told Shaheem Reid of MTV earlier this month.

Earlier this week Graham went to work on his first offical music video for his single "Best I've Ever Had." Directing the video is none other than Kanye West; it is being filmed in Brooklyn at a high school. Making appearances in the video is Trey Songz, Fabulous, Amber Rose (who plays his love interest), and Common.

Graham may have a lot going on with his music career, but this is not stopping him from working with some big name artist. Graham is working with rapper Jay-Z on his newest album Blueprint 3, which is set to be released in September. It has been said that a single featuring Graham will be released this summer. Graham is also working with artist Mary J. Blige, the two worked on a collaboration which will be also be released as a single.

Aside from his music career, Graham also has been linked to singer Rihanna. Lately the rapper has been rumored to be the singers new boo. They have been spotted together in various locations in NYC and supposedly locking lips. Even though the rumors have not been confirmed that Graham and Rihanna are together, it seems that things may be getting serious.

Graham may have a lot going on, but there are no signs of him stopping. With his mixtapes, album, and collaborations there is no doubt that big things will be coming from him soon.

Forget the Pratts

I have to rant for a minute because I'm just baffled. Someone out there tell me why Heidi Montag Pratt and Spencer Pratt are considered celebrities? Then after you explain that to me, fill me in on why people are so interested in their lives... which are fused with fake drama.

I read entertainment and fashion news daily and I cannot tell you how often the Pratt's names show up in the headlines. It's crazy to me only because they have not done anything that would make them celebrity worthy. Neither one of them ever starred in a movie or was a child star that fell off. Their only came to fame is their wanna-be reality show/drama The Hills. Recently the couple starred on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here, which I'm sad to say is shown on NBC since I thought they would have better quality shows. The Pratt's left the show a couple of times before actually leaving.

My only thing is that I believe that there should be some guidelines to be considered an actual celebrity. For instance you have to be on a real show that has some substance to it, and not something that is 'reality' but actually scripted. Or a rule should be if you are going to be a singer and go down that route then you should actually be able to sing. Another rule should be that you are going to be an actual celebrity you should be an active member of society and not just sit on somebody's couch all day. I think those rules are pretty far.

On ABC's The View today The Hills' Lauren Conrad spoke to the ladies about her final episode and the apology that she received from Spencer Pratt. To fill in those that don't know this apology was because Spencer had spread rumors about Conrad and a sex tape, along with other things that he had done to her. Even though this occured a couple of years ago, Conrad stopped being friends with Heidi Montag Pratt after the whole ordeal because she continued to date Spencer Pratt. With the couple approaching their upcoming nuptials, that aired as the last episode, Spencer Pratt called Conrad to apologize for what happened so that she would attend the wedding. He told the ladies at The View last week that his fiance wanted her in attendance for the wedding and he knew that would be the only way she would come.

Even though Spencer Pratt apologized to Conrad, don't think that he is turning over a new leaf just yet. After being asked about the apology, Conrad hesitantly told The View that she was not on the other end of that phone call. Basically stating that that whole scene of him calling her was staged and that she never spoke to him on the phone. She then said that she was not even aware that that took place until she saw it when the episode aired.

If it was obvious already, I am every tired of hearing about the Pratt's and their latest antics to stay in the lime light. To me their fifteen minutes of fame was done years ago, but somehow they found a way to stretch it out. Since leaving the NBC show, Spencer Pratt is talking about getting into rap while Heidi Montag Pratt will be preparing to appear in Playboy.

I hope that one day people will stop paying attention to them. If we all just forget the Pratt's then they will go away and the word celebrity can go back to it's original meaning. Until then I will be wondering what exactly makes someone a celebrity.

In the House

Get ready to welcome back the reality family. The Simmons are here for another season of love and awkward noises. The 6th season of Run's House airs tonight on MTV at 9pm Central time. The whole family will be appearing for a more lessons from the Rev.

For those of you who haven't seen Run's House, the show follows the 'Hip Hop's first family.' Parents Rev Run, of Run DMC, and Justine guide their six children through the everyday tribulations of life. Every episode has a lesson to it concerning one or several members of the family. The show features Rev Run's three children from his first marriage Vanessa, Angela, and son Jojo. Also featured on the showa is Rev Run and Justine's two sons Diggy and Russy, and their adopted daughter Miley.

The season opener tonight will follow the family as they head to Hawaii for a vacation. Viewers will see the family performing in all sorts of activities while on their trip. It will also feature the family in New Jersey as they deal with a growing Miley, Diggy becoming a young man, Jojo and his music, and the girls taking care of their fashion line Pastry.

They may not the picture perfect family, but they are pretty close. Tune into Run's House and you are sure to laugh.

Paging Nurse Hawthorne

TNT is upping its Tuesday night line up with Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Vartan's new show Hawthorne. The show joins the schedule right between their shows reality show Wedding Day and hit drama show Saving Grace.

The show focuses on Christina Hawthorne, who is played by Pinkett Smith, a registered nurse at Richmond Trinity Hospital. She is extremely compassionate about her career and all the patients that she deals with. From the looks of the promotions Hawthorne is an a nurse that always sides with the patients despite what the hospital says.

Aside from her work she also is a single mother that struggles to raise her teenage daughter. Even though she has her career under control, she has a hard time balancing her personal and work life. Vartan plays Dr. Tom Wakefield, who is the Chief of Surgery for the hospital. Vartan's character is the opposite from Pinkett Smith's because Dr. Wakefield is one who does everything by the book and doesn't deviate from it.

"I really liked the concept of the show. I know there are a lot of medical dramas out there, but this one is different in the sense that it tells the story of what goes on in a hospital from the nurse's point of view," Vartan told E! Online when asked what attracted him to the show.

Even though the show is unique in it's own right, it has a lot to live up to being a drama about the medical field. We all have seen medical dramas like ER, Grey's Anatomy, and let's not forget classic St. Elsewhere that have made a name for themselves in this genre. These along with other medical shows out there will make it hard for Hawthorne to stand out on it's own. Many critics are skeptical that the show will be successful.

This year seems to be the year for medical shows to focus on nurses. Hawthorne is one of three shows that have its main character being a nurse instead of a doctor that is seen in most sitcoms. One of shows being Showtime's Nurse Jackie which aired not too long ago has the same premise as Hawthorne. Even though the show suffered some scrutiny, it did well in the ratings.

Although Hawthorne many expectations to fill, Tuesday night will prove it's worth watching. I have no doubt that this drama will be another hit for TNT. So watch out Kara Sedgwick because Jada Pinkett Smith is out of the waiting room and ready to scrubbing in.

Kendra, Hank, and the Baby

The stork has a special delivery on its way for one outgoing reality star. Early this week Kendra Wilkinson along with her fiance Hank Baskett announced that they are expecting a baby. This will be the couple's first child together. As the couple approaches the two week mark till their wedding at the Playboy Mansion, they have a lot to look forward to.

"Hank and I are thrilled to announce that we are expecting our first child together," Wilkinson told Marc Malkin from E!. "We are touched by the outpouring of support by our family, friends and fans."

Wilkinson is about twelve weeks into her pregnancy already. The very open reality star told Malkin that she found out that she was pregnant during a layover at the airport in Amarillo, Texas. Right now the sex of the baby is unknown, but the couple has names picked out for their bundle of joy. Wilkinson said that if they have a boy his name will be Hank Randall Baskett IV, and if they have a girl her name will be either Arianna or Kianna.

Malkin wrote this about Wilkinson: The morning sickness has been brutal. "I've thrown up in almost every limo that has taken me out in the last week," said Kendra, whose big cravings include fruit and Top Ramen noodle soups.

The Girl Next Door gang is all excited the baby. Bridget Marquardt said she and Wilkinson are going shopping after the baby's gender is known. Also on board is Holly Madison who is rumored to be hosting the baby shower. Ex-boyfriend Hugh Hefner told Malkin that he is also excited about the news.

"I'm really happy to learn that Kendra is pregnant because I know that she and Hank wanted to start a family right away," he said. "I think he's a good guy and they'll be good for one another."

I've blogged about before Wilkinson has started her own self entitled show on E! which airs every Sunday. The show follows the now 24-year-old as she navigates through life after leaving the Playboy Mansion. The first episode premiered last week and was a hit for the channel. Kendra brought in 2.6 million viewers, which made it the second highest premiere for E!

After watching the show I will admit that it wasn't what I thought it would be. It format was similar to Wilkinson's previous show The Girls Next Door with the scenes, interview, and random nudity. However, I think The Girls Next Door intro was much better than the one Kendra has. Aside from that I would suggest watching it, the show will certainly keep your interest.

Congratulations to Wilkinson and Baskett on their upcoming nuptials and baby. This child's life will be truly interesting.

Usher Minus His Boo

Usher is about the remind you of a common practice in Hollywood, divorce. Earlier this week it was rumored that singer/actor would be filing divorce papers. However, the rumor was confirmed when Raymond started the process to divorce his wife of two years Tameka Foster. Raymond turned in the papers on Friday at the Superior Court in Atlanta.

It was reported on E! that the couple has been having some problems for some time now. For the past year they have been living in separate homes according to reports. Usher has relocated to Nevada in order to work on his next album. Aside from their martial problems, the papers did not give a specific reason for their divorce.

The couple has two children together, Usher Raymond V who is 21 months old and Naviyd Ely who is 6 months old. Foster also has three sons from previous relationship. Raymond and Foster married in 2007. They had two weddings, one was a civil ceremony and the second was a traditional wedding in front of 200 guests.

Throughout their marriage the couple has had to deal with rumors of them breaking up and infidelity on Raymond's part. Rumors continued to swirl when Raymond fired his mother as his manger in 2007, statements were made that Foster had something to do with the managerial change. Raymond denied that these rumors were true when he visited MTV's TRL in 2008.

"I love my wife very, very much," Raymond continued with saying, "My wife had nothing to do with me firing my mother — nothing like that, that's trash."

Earlier this year Usher canceled his performance at the Grammy awards in order to travel to Brazil and care for his wife who was having a "serious medical emergency." Foster was suffering from "cardiac and respiratory arrest while being anesthetized before a liposuction procedure" reported E! Online. Raymond was by her side as she was in an induced coma which stabilized her.

Both parties are supposed to attend court on July 15 to begin the divorce proceedings.

The O.C. Minus a Housewife?

Your favorite Housewives are back at work recording their new season. For those of you that are wondering who it is, it's the Real Housewives of Orange County, sorry Atlanta and NY fans. The spotlight is back on the ladies of California who are working on their fifth season of the show. The ladies have been filming for weeks now, but the big news concerning this season is if all the women are coming back.

For those of you who are wondering who, I will tell you that Gretchen Rossi, Tamra Barney, and Lynne Curtin will be coming back. So those of you that like them can breathe a little easier. That means that housewives Vicki Gunvalson and Jeana Keough are the ones that are on the maybe list. Housewife Tamara Barney confirmed on her Twitter page last month that one Housewife would not be back for the new season of the show.

Back in December E! reported that Gunvalson might not come back after the fourth season. Gulvalson herself did not comment on the matter much, but E! believes that it may have something to do with Gulvalson's relationship with her husband Don. During the fourth season Gunvalson made comments about her husband 'not filling her love tank.' Gunvalson states that they are working on their relationship.

This week Keough's daughter Kara spoke with E! Online about how she does not know if her family will be apart of this season. Even though the other wives and their families have started filming, the Keough family has yet to be scheduled to film. Kara Keough stated in the interview that the hold up may have to do with deals and contracts concerning her family.

Her mother had this to say on the subject, "We had a dispute due to deadlines and they need to settle it. I think it would be their loss. I didn't ask for anything too extraordinary."

Also reported by E! is that source told them that one or two new Housewives maybe joining the cast. At least one woman is in negotiations with the show at the moment. She is said to have a Rossi personality, but is a mother of three.
The Real Housewives of Orange County will definitely not be the same without Jeana Keough or Vicki Gunvalson, but everything must go on. Until it's confirmed who will not be back fans can enjoy the fact that Barney, Rossi, and Curtin will be back to keep the drama alive.

NYC Prep Gossip

Since my second to last post I've been M.I.A. with almost all things electronic- minus my cell phone. Today is my first day back with Internet and television and I can't believe all the entertainment news I've missed. Today I was watching television and I can't believe this show that Bravo is coming out with NYC Prep.

After reading about this show and watching the commercial, it instantly made think The CW's show Gossip Girl. Which after doing some research, I'm not the only one because New York Magazine thinks so too calling the show a "rip off." The only thing that they are missing is a mysterious girl that text about their secrets. Instead of the having a "gossip girl" they do the gossiping themselves. Aside from that that the shows are too similar, all viewers have to do is identify the which person is which character.

NYC Prep is a reality show about six very privileged adolescents that attend exclusive schools in of course NYC. The show will chronicle their lives inside and outside of school and charity events. Viewers will also get to know their families and friends, the hot spots they go to in NYC, and see their vacation sites.

I wanted to compare the cast to the characters on Gossip Girl, however, NY Magazine beat me to the punch. So in an effort not to copy them and deal with copyright drama you can visit their site to find out about who's who at http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2009/04/bravo_takes_gossip_girl_knocko.html.

For those that are interested in watching NYC Prep the series airs on Bravo on June 23. Maybe those of you that watch it can tell me if my suspensions about the show are right. Otherwise, Serena and Blair better watch out, because they are not the only ones that are living the high life in NYC.

Straight from the D-List

Kathy Griffin is back again with her show airing tonight on Bravo. The comedian's show features she life as a D list actress and how her pursues more publicity and recognition. Season five of Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List will show her continuing to climb up the celebrity ladder. The premiere episode will feature Griffin being featured in a Bette Midler show along with her pursuing a Grammy award.

Along for another season of the show is Team Griffin, which consist of Griffin's assistant Tiffany Rinehart and her tour manager Tom Vize. I cannot confirm is Griffin's second assistant Jessica Zajicek will be back this season. Even though her photo is still featured on Bravotv.com, she does not appear on Griffin's personal site. Also appearing this season is Griffin's lovable mom Maggie, her "friend" Steve aka Woz, and her two dogs Chance and Pom-Pom.

According to Griffin's personal website, season five will be featuring all sorts of celebrities from all walks of life. Future episodes will feature rapper T.I., heiress Paris Hilton, southern cooking guru Paula Dean, and Suzanne Somers. Back from previous seasons is griffin's good friends Rosie O'Donnell and ex-MadTV star Micheal McDonald. This season will show Griffin experiencing another great moment in her career, receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Even though Griffin has a show, she also has a book in the works. The book entitled A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin will be about Griffin's life before and after stardom. The book is said to discuss Griffin's childhood, plastic surgery, and her divorce. The release date for the book has not been made public yet; however, the book cover is featured on her site.

With Griffin working on her show, book, and comedy tour she is definitely working to get off the D list. Now all she has to do is watch who she messes with, what she says, and what she does.

Here's Conan

Tonight on NBC Conan O'Brien will take the reins as the new Tonight Show host. He will be filling the seat of predecessor Jay Leno, who aired his last episode as the host last Friday. As O'Brien's first guest for the premiere he will be welcoming actor Will Ferrell and musical guest Pearl Jam to the show.

On Leno's last episode he was given a drawn out farewell applause by the sold out audience. He then made a joke by thanking people whom he said "made it possible" naming off Michael Jackson, Bill Clinton, and Monica Lewinsky. Leno has been the host of the Tonight Show for the past seventeen years after taking over for the king of late night, Johnny Carson.

There have only been four host of the Tonight Show, making O'Brien the fifth host of the show. The Tonight Show started back in 1954 with Steve Allen as its host. The acclaimed Johnny Carson, who was the third host of the show, took over in 1962 and turned it over to Leno in 1992.

When Carson decided to retire from late night, there was a lot of controversy about who his predecessor would be. . Carson's chose was David Letterman, who now host the Late Show. Leno was given the opportunity to take over the show by NBC, which did not please Carson.

On Friday, Leno welcomed O'Brien to show as one of his final interviews. They spoke casually about O'Brien and his thoughts about taking over as the host. O'Brien in his usual manner poked fun about the shoes he has to fill.

"It's a compliment to you, because I keep hearing over and over, in my 800 interviews in three days- 'You've got big shoes to fill.' Someday in my career I want fill little shoes," O'Brien told Leno.

Also to wish Leno a farewell was Billy Crystal, who was Leno's first guest in 1992. He kept up with the tradition of singing farewell the Tonight Show host. Afterward, Leno named off all the people that contributed to the show to thank them. Then Leno brought out almost seventy children who parents were staff of the show and were born during the shows run.

Leno stated that they were his legacy, "When these kids grow up and they go, 'Hey, Mom and Dad, where did you guys meet?' they're going to say they met on the stage of the Tonight Show."

When Leno was asked if he was sad about leaving the show, he said was he was thrilled.

"When I took this from Johnny, this show was the No. 1 show on late-night television. When handing it to Conan, it's No. 1, which means I get my security deposit back."

O'Brien's seat on the Late Night was filled by SNL alum Jimmy Fallon, who took over months ago. Tonight's premiere of O'Brien as the host will definitely be one to watch. I just hope that he keeps doing the string dance.

Hudson and the Baby

The news is officially out; Jennifer Hudson is having a baby. As I stated in a past post there were rumors that the star was pregnant, but she denied that it was true. In yesterdays Chicago Tribune, Hudson's close friend Felicia Fields told the paper that the star is indeed pregnant and about her weekend baby shower.

Fields told the paper, "It was a baby shower, a quiet gathering of friends and mostly family. They are really trying to keep it mostly quiet."

At the party Fields said that Hudson received mostly yellow gifts since the gender of the baby was unknown to the guest. The couple has chosen to keep the sex of the baby private as well. Another secret that they are keeping is when the baby is due. When Field’s was asked when the baby was due she was not willing to talk about it.

The baby shower took place at a relative’s home in Hudson's hometown of Chicago. This will be Hudson's first child with her fiancĂ© David Otunga, who is an ex-reality star. Otunga is now pursuing a career as a pro wrestler. The couple has set a date for their wedding, but has chosen to keep the date private.

Hudson has wrapped up her tour with Robin Thicke, which she had to leave after for a while after her throat condition. Since the end of her tour she has been laying low to avoid baby news.

According to the Chicago Tribune Hudson is about seven months into her pregnancy. However, how far along Hudson has not been confirmed. Aside from all the news I want to congratulate Hudson on her pregnancy and motherhood.
