We Love Tyler

The love that we have for Tyler Perry expands past the fact that he developed the character Madea, is a great playwright, and entrepreneur. Ten years ago very little people knew of Perry, with the exception of few in Atlanta. Now Perry is one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry dealing with films, plays, and television.

Perry stated in a past interview that he stated writing after watching an episode of Oprah. During the episode she said that writing was cathartic; after looking up the word 'cathartic' Perry started writing. The first play that Perry did was not an instant hit, after all his efforts to make the play work he became homeless. Perry's mother asked him to stop pursing the theatrical path, however, he was determined to give it one more shot.

His final efforts at getting his plays noticed paid off and years later made Perry into who he is today. He is mostly known for being a well-known playwright and for creating the combative character Mabel 'Madea' Simmons. He also has two hit shows, Tyler Perry's House of Payne and Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns, with a third show being discussed. Perry is also the owner of the first African American studio in the country, Tyler Perry's Studios.

Outside of the messages that Perry provides in his plays, his achievements are a message too. Tyler Perry is someone we love because he has proven that with determination dreams can become a reality.

The Real Atlanta

Only one day stands in between us and the newest season of the Real Housewives of Atlanta. The women are back on Bravo for their second season, and it will be something to see. For this new season four out of the five women will be back; DeShawn Snow will not be back. NeNe Leakes, Sheree Whitfield, Kim Zolciak, and Lisa Wu Hartwell are all coming back along with newcomer Kandi Burruss (ex-member of Xscape).

This season will be picking up some of the issues that were addressed last year. One of theses issues will be Leakes quest to find out who her biological father is. Last season she found out that the man whom was said to be her father was not her actual father. Also dealing with some past issues that are popping up in the present is Whitfield. This year she will be handling some problems dealing with her ex-husband and financial issues. From the previews it seems that things are not going to go smoothly with that situation.

With any of the Real Housewives, there has to be fights, arguing, and gossip. This season will include it all. There will be some tension between Hartwell and Whitfield, Whitfield and Zolciak, and Leakes and Burruss. For Hartwell and Whitfield it will be a clash over their fashion lines and who knows style better, but I'm personally going for Hartwell. Zolciak will also start working with Burruss on establishing her music career.

I can't wait for the fights, arguments, and over all craziness of Atlanta. Season 2 starts at 9 pm on Bravo.

Going to The Office

You guys have spoken, and your chose for Outstanding Comedy award goes to NBC's The Office. Which I personally think is the best show ever, and the funniest show out there. So I'm secretly glad that you guys voted for the show I liked (just an f.y.i. I don't vote on the polls, it's all you guys).

In honor of your votes I decided that I would write a little something on the show that keeps Must See TV Thursday on the map. What I love about The Office is that the show is about life at work, that's the show plain and simple. Every character on the show has different quirks and personalities that will make anyone think of someone they work with. Plus the fact Steve Carell plays this want to be likable yet dumb boss is great.

Out of all the characters on the show, I have to admit that I'm a big fan of Jam (which is short for Jim and Pam). They are the cutest couple that I've ever seen on television before; seriously, if you can think of a cuter TV couple then let me know. The two of them are great actors and really make the show, plus the pranks they pull on Dwight and Andy are hilarious.

So, all of you that don't watch The Office go rent the DVDs right now cause you haven't laughed till you have seen this show. No one can tell a "That's what she said" joke like Michael Scott.

Making Another Band

Just when we thought Diddy was done making bands, he decides to make one for himself. Coming to MTV is Diddy's new show Making His Band, which will show the entertainer recording his newest album Last Train to Paris. While he is working on his album Diddy will be putting together a band to travel with him while he is on tour.

i have to admit that I'm on the fence about this show. As interesting as it will be to see Diddy's point of view while getting a band together and his personal like; I'm also kind of tired of him making these bands. Anyone who knows something about the show can admit that Diddy does not have a good track record with the bands that come out of Bad Boy Ent.

Have you heard of Da Band or Danity Kane? If you have not then that might be because they do not exist anymore. Both groups have dismantled after suffering from complications amongst the members of the groups. Now the only group that exist from the Making the Band series is Day 26, which almost became dismantled during their last season.

As much as I'm on the fence about the show, I will probably still watch it. If not to watch the drama unfold it will be to see do his Diddy blog and pub his cologne.

Loving Eva

Yeah, she is rated one of the sexiest women in the world, but that's not the reasons why we love her. Outside of her acting career Eva Longoria Parker is an entrepreneur, involved in charities, and just like any other women in America. The only difference is that... she's a big time star and married to Spur's point guard Tony Parker. Nothing too major, right?

In 2008 Longoria decided to start her own restaurant in Los Angeles entitled Beso, which means 'kiss' in Spanish. The restaurant is a steakhouse with a Latin feel to it, however, the restaurant has a romantic setting to it. Since her success of her restaurant, Longoria is currently working on opening her second Beso restaurant in Las Vegas this December.

Longoria has also been an active member of a number of charities and foundations dealing with everything from cancer to clothing. In 2006 she started her own charity Eva's Hero's that helps children that are developmentally disabled. This charity hits home for the actress because her older sister is disabled. The San Antonio based charity helps children interact and grow despite their disabilities and learn based on love.

Outside of Longoria's career and different business ventures, she is just like any other women out there. According to E! THS, one of her close friends states that Longoria loves to eat food which is partially why she started her own restaurant. She also loves spending time with her husband and Longoria stated in an interview that she hopes to have or adopt children in the near future.

Despite everything there is to say about Longoria, you can't help but love Eva.

Preping for Runway

With August just around the corner Lifetime is already sounding the alarm to let fans know that it's time for another season of the coveted Project Runway. As they role out commercial after commercial of promos, they will also be adding something new for viewers to talk about, a two-hour Project Runway: All-Star Challenge.

The contest will place eight previous contestants against each other for hopes of will a $100,000 prize. Now don't get your hopes up too much because the contestants that will be back are only from seasons two through five. So if you thought your favorite from season one was back, sorry to inform you otherwise. Coming back will be Daniel Voscovic and Santino Rice from season 2; Jeffrey Sebelia, Uli Herzner, and Mychael Knight from season 3; Chris March and Sweet P from season 4; and Korto Momolu from season 5.

Although there is not a lot of information being given on the show, it is known that they have to do more than one look but less than a collection. Since the all-stars are all different in their styles, its going to be interesting to see what happens and who will win this challenge. No matter what happens on the All Star show and the regular Project Runway I'm just glad that they are back.

Reality With a Purpose?

Last night a friend D-M.O.E. and I were talking about how it seems that everything is turning into a reality show these days. It seems like anyone can get a reality show these days and most of them don't even have any real content to them. So as my friend and I talked about how television is changing, he brought up something that got me thinking. What happened to reality television having a purpose?

I was watching VH1 yesterday and I was baffled by football player T.O. having his own show. What is the purpose of his show? From watching the one episode that I did watch, there was not much of a reason for the show at all. The man goes to parties, argues with people, goes on dates, and exercises. The show might as well have been a documentary.

Now, I'm not just bashing only T.O., there are more reality shows out there Tiny & Toya, Brooke Knows Best, and MC Hammer's show on A&E that just kill brain cells. So instead of having tons of shows without a real meaning to them, why can't we have it where it's 50/50?

I'm talking about more shows like MTV's Run's House and T.I.'s show Redemption, both shows portray a message and a meaning about some important aspect of life. What I liked about T.I.'s show was that the aspect of giving back to others and teaching people from your mistakes. Even though the rapper was doing this because of his own trouble with the law, the show filled a void that wasn't there before.

So can there be a 50/50 for the world of reality television, or are we doomed to have more of The Bachelor and Shot at Love? I hope for all of us that things will change.

Have to love Steve

Today marked the beginning of the Emmy saga as the nominations for each category came out. As the list of nominations aired it made me think of my all time favorite show NBC's The Office. If you haven't seen this show you need to start hating yourself, cause it's the funniest show ever. I live for Must See TV Thursday so that I can find out what's going on at the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin (it's true ask my family).

As much as I love the show, this post is not about that, it's about funny man Steve Carell. He plays the boss of the Scranton branch, Michael Scott. Playing this role has earned him his fourth nomination as Lead Actor in a Comedy series. As I thought about his nomination, I thought why not write what makes Steve Carell someone that we love.

First things first Steve Carell was hilarious in 40 Year Old Virgin, I have never laughed so hard at a movie. Then was his role alongside Will Ferrell in Anchor Man, the street fight that they had with the other anchor men was crazy funny. Next, I have to mention Michael Scott. He is the craziest boss that you have ever seen in your entire life, and you have to admire the way that he always stays in character.

So while everyone gets ready for the Emmy Awards to take place, I'm going for Steve Carell. The funny man that we love.

From Run to Pastry

Last night was the season finale of MTV's show Run's House, but there is more of the Simmons family to see. The Vanessa and Angela will be airing it's 2nd season of their own show on MTV entitled Daddy's Girls on August 11 at 9pm.

For those of you that don't know the who's who of Hollywood, Vanessa and Angela Simmons are the daughters of Rev Run and the nieces of hip hop mogul Russell Simmons. They have their own clothing/shoe line Pastry. If that didn't help you then I'm sorry, try using Google to find out more.

If your a fan of E! show Keeping Up With the Kardashians please not that this show is a 180 of the Kardashians. Your not going to be seeing any girl on girl action, wild partying, or pregnancy scares. Instead their show continues with the family's series of shows about working to acheive and the importance of family. The pair moved out of their parents house in New Jersey to a second office in Los Angeles.

Their will also be some sibling rivalry this season that Rev Run has to step in an break up; over what you ask, who gets the bigger room of course. This season will show the girls continuing to grow their company and fashion line. Vanessa and Angela Simmons will be moving into a new apartment and facing the woes of living with a sibling.

From the Heights

There is only one reason for you to watch ABC Family and that's to catch episodes of Lincoln Heights. Yea, the channel is known for their pre-teen dramas and melodramatic scripts, but trust me when I say that Lincoln Heights is not like typical ABC Family show. This show has more drama than any reality show and better than most family based shows that don't discuss real issues.

This show follows the lives of a African American family that lives in a neighborhood full of gangs. The gangs pretty much run the neighborhood and what happens. In an effort to get the neighborhood back to the way it was, the father and mother who work as a policeman and nurse try to turn things around. Through their efforts they along with their three children get robbed, kidnapped, shot, and beat up. Do I have your attention yet?

If that hasn't got you yet then maybe the season finale will. In the last episode of the show the family has to deal with their new house guest and he's mood swings and the earthquake that just hit the area. While the mom, Jen, is at work trying to care for the sick, her husband and the guest are stuck underneath the house trying to fix the place. Then... well, you will just have to watch and see if the house survives.

So if you do anything then watch September 14 at 7 pm and find out what happens to the Sutton family.

We Love Tori

I had a revelation this week, and I have to admit that I'm shocked. It has come to my attention that there are a lot of people out there that don't like Tori Spelling. As crazy as this was to me, I had to find out what was the issue. For those that are not aware I watch Spelling's reality show every week, I love her show.

The reasons that people are not a fan of Tori Spelling range from her her personal life to her career and acting abilities. Some stated that they are not fans of her because of her feud with her mother, Candy Spelling. Others said it was because she is always in the news and looking for media attention. Then some people stated that she can not act and she was only given a chance on 90210 because of her father. Whatever the case may be, I thought that all these reasons were stupid.

So instead of focusing on the reasons that people don't like Spelling, I'm going to tell you the reasons I do. Disagree if you want to but the woman is a good mother to her children Liam and Stella McDermont. She cares for those children just like any other parent out there and makes an honest effort to be with her kids full time. On her reality show she constantly speaks about wanting to be a stay-at-home mother to her kids so that they can develop a relationship.

Secondly she is a hard working mother/ career women. For those that are not aware of her different ventures, Spelling has a jewelry line, clothing line for children, an author of two best selling books, and of course an actress. In past episodes of her show she took care of the children alone, wrote her book, planned for the clothing line, and shot the new 90210 at the same time.

Finally she is seriously just like everyone else out there in the world. She makes mistakes, she goes to the farmers market, and she seeks family dinners. She and her husband Dean McDermont has date nights and arguments just like other couples do. She also has problems getting to places on time. The one difference between everyone else and her is that when she goes out paparazzi follow her.

So all you haters out there, there is no reason to not like Tori Spelling. She is just like you and me, expect for the celebrity status.

Sasha Fierce is at it again, and now she is taking over fashion. Beyonce along with her mother, Tina Knowles, are making Sasha Fierce a popular name among young women with Sasha Fierce for Dereon. The Dash Diet

Have you seen Khloé Kardashian lately? For those of you that are not Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the youngest of the Kardashian sisters has lost a lot of weight lately. She showed off her new body last night at the Naven and Boulee fashion event on Sunset.

Her weight loss is not skeletal looking (like other celebs we know- Lindsey), however, the girl definitely looks great. So how did she lose all the weight? Miss. Kardashian did it the old fashion way.

"I've changed my eating," Kardasian said. "Eating is my hardest problem. I need sweets. That's my major problem. And I've been killing myself at the gym."

The world will be able to see her new body on her new show Kourtney and Khloé take Miami. The show is a spin-off of the families show which will follow the sisters as they start their new lives in Miami. The Kardashian's recently opened their second Dash store in Miami, which Khloé and Kourtney Kardashian run.

The youngest Kardashian has been dealing with weight and self issues for many years. On past episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardasians she spoke about her concerns when she was asked to pose nude for a PETA ad. She ended up posing for the ad, which was against the use of fur. The ad was published nation wide, since then she has lost 20 pounds.

"I actually was in a bikini on camera!" said Kardashian. "I've never done that and I wouldn't have ever thought to do that. And I have to admit, I was still insecure…I've just got to tone up more, but I never would have done that before—ever. I would rather have died."

Does Duff Know Gossip?

It was announced today that Hilary Duff will be joining the cast of Gossip Girl as a recurring character this coming season. She will be playing Vanessa's college roommate Olivia, who is secretly famous and is trying to live a normal life. If you were not thinking it already, Duff's character will lead Dan's love interest.

I occasionally watch Gossip Girl, which is a very interesting and twisted show. However, out of all the people they could add why Hilary Duff? What has she done lately? The last time I saw her was back when she was on Disney's Lizzie McGuire, and to be honest she couldn't really act then. Her lack of acting abilities continues on into the movie that she and her older sister did a couple of years ago.

Gossip Girl already has to deal with being on a channel that is slowly fading, and this could make things worse. I hope that Duff has used her time to work off her acting skills, because it doesn't take much to ruin a show. So here's hoping that the gossip continues.
